KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said it is ready to make clear the issues relating to the election code of conduct.

The EC would do so upon the request of any political parties, said the EC’s Joint Spokesperson Surya Prasad Aryal at a regular press conference on Thursday.

The EC’s statement came after some opposition parties disagreed with some points in the code of conduct. Stating that following the poll code of conduct fully means organizing elections in a fair atmosphere, he informed that commitments of political parties to fully abide by it were pouring in. “Some political parties attending a meeting of the EC recently have committed to follow the code of conduct in full fledge. Others are following suit,” he said.

The EC was at work to fully monitor the implementation of the code of conduct by creating a mechanism from the center to the district level, he said. “Teams led by secretaries and joint secretaries will be deployed at the center and election officers and chief district officers will take care at the district level.”

A training session for elections officers was completed on Wednesday, according to the EC. Similarly, those trained for chief trainers are scheduled to train chief election officers, election officers, and election officials on April 13-15 at the province level.
