Commitment of all needed to ensure gender equality: PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes to all on the occasion of 112th International Women’s Day.

The Day is being celebrated under the national slogan “Social Justice and Gender Equity: Guarantee of Sustainable Development’.

In a message today, Prime Minister Deuba remembered women with high respect who contributed for women’s rights and to ensure justice.

March 8 is celebrated annually across the world to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.

This Day has been encouraging all to provide equal opportunities to women on social, political, cultural and economic sectors and to move ahead towards the path of gender equality, he has said in the message.

“The Constitution of Nepal has resolved to build proportional, inclusive and equitable society by ending all types of discriminations against women,” he said.

PM Deuba has also said that the constitution has ensured proportional inclusive representation of women in all bodies of the state.

“All types of violent activities and exploitation against women have been made punishable”, reads the message.

Saying it was necessary to take initiatives in a coordinative manner by all the three- level governments at their respective sectors as women empowerment is the matter of common concern of all, Prime Minister Deuba stressed the need of commitment of all to ensure gender, social, economic and political rights of women.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba has also extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters, women right activists and all those individuals and organisations working for the protection and promotion of women’s rights.
