PM Deuba urges Oli to avoid HoR disruption and endorse MCC



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has met with main opposition leader KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s residence in Balkot on Saturday.

During the meeting with Oli, Prime Minister Deuba asked him for his cooperation to endorse the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) by breaking the ongoing deadlock seen in the House of Representatives (HoR).

A meeting of high-level political coordination committee of the ruling coalition held on Thursday had entrusted Prime Minister Deuba to hold talks with the leader of the main opposition party to avoid the House disruption.

Two days after the meeting, Prime Minister Deuba reached at the main opposition leader’s house to hold talks on various issues including the UML’s obstruction in the parliament, and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact.

During the meeting with Oli, Deuba urged him to stop disrupting the House proceedings and extend cooperation to pass the MCC.

In reply, Oli said that the disruption will continue until the demands are addressed, according to sources.

UML has been obstructing the parliament accusing Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of plotting for the UML split.
