Blocked Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi section of Pasang Lhamu Highway opens for traffic

RASUWA: The Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi section of the Pasang Lhamu highway has opened for traffic since Friday. It remained blocked due to dry landslides.

With the opening of the highway, all kinds of vehicles including passenger buses and container trucks carrying goods imported from China have started moving freely. The power supply to Timure and Rasuwagadhi areas has also been restored after utility poles and wires damaged by the landslide were replaced, said Chief District Officer Nawaraj Jaisi.

The dry landslide that fell from above near Kalangkulung River in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-3 Briddhim area had disrupted the services of the highway as well as electricity, telephone and internet since January 4. In addition to the Division Road Office, a local hydropower project provided dozers to help clear the debris of the landslide.

Due to huge amount of debris workers had to spend a lot of time working carefully to remove it in presence of security personnel, said CDO Jaisi.

Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Committee has requested all travelers to observe caution while crossing the Syafrubensi-Rasuwagadhi section on foot or by vehicle.
