No immediate investigation on Sandeep’s case: CAN

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has said it would not initiate any investigation immediately on Captain of the National Cricket Team, Sandeep Lamichhane, regarding the allegation of raping a minor.

CAN Chairperson Chatur Bahadur Chand shared that the CAN would not launch any investigation outright on this issue because Sandeep has only been accused and the issue is in the course of thorough investigation.

He opined, “The allegation against Sandeep has not been proved yet. It might be plotted too. Legal action against Sandeep should be carried out if he had breached the rule.”

The case filed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, reads that Sandeep took a girl to various places of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur for a visit on August 21, and raped her in a hotel in Kathmandu the same night.

Sandeep is now in Jamaica of West Indies to play Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Cricket.
