Engineering sector should be made more useful: Minister Karki



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki spoke of the need to make engineering sector more creative, professional and useful.

At a program organized by LOCUS, Pulchowk Campus in Lalitpur on Friday in view of 19th national technological festival scheduled for February next year, Minister Karki said that the engineering sector would play a significant role in building ‘prosperous Nepal’.

“The role of engineering sector is vital for the society’s transformation,” the Minister said, expressing his hopefulness that steps to taken by engineers would take forward our society. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to extend support to the engineering sector.

He viewed that the engineers, through creations and innovations, should make the lives of people easier considering the issues facing the Nepali society and country. The Minister viewed that we all should pay attention towards marketization of innovation and creations in engineering sector.

LOCUS is an umbrella organization led by undergraduate students of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering departments from Pulchowk Campaus.

The organization, established in 2003, has been organizing ‘Technological Festival’ annually which brings together technology enthusiasts from various schools and colleges to exhibit their talents.

Also speaking in the program, Dipesh Bista, information, technology and communication expert of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed his confidence that the engineering sector would contribute significantly to accomplish the government’s ‘Digital Nepal Framework’ campaign.
