Nepal made grave mistake by showing bias in Russia-Ukraine war: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has criticized the government for taking the wrong policy regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.

Prachanda said he had even expressed disagreement with the ruling coalition on the issue.

Briefing the party’s central committee meeting on Thursday, Prachanda said that Nepal’s bias toward the Russia-Ukraine war was unfavorable to Nepal’s geopolitical situation.

“It simply came to our notice then. On the one hand, while India is showing closeness to Russia and China is openly supporting it, we should not have sided with anyone,” he added.

“We had disagreed on the issue at a meeting of the ruling coalition meeting as soon as the government issued the statement,” he said.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda emphasized the need for Nepal to pursue an independent non-aligned policy in this regard.
