Prachanda asks Maoist cadres to prepare for ‘socialist revolution’

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has instructed the party rank and file to be ready for what he called a “socialist revolution”.

He said the party was working toward organizing a ‘special general convention” for the purpose.

Addressing a meeting of the party’s central committee in Kathmandu on Thursday, Prachanda said that a special general convention of the party would be held soon.

Responding to a question raised in his political document, Chairman Prachanda said, “Be assured, a special general convention will be organized soon to pave the way toward a socialist revolution.”

The special general convention will take the idea of the socialist revolution to the next level of preparation and planning of the revolution, he said.

He said that the Nepali people do not need other parties like Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.

“We must show to the people that the Maoist Center is different from the rest of the parties,” he said.

Prachanda, however, admitted that the Maoist Center was currently facing an identity crisis.
