Home Minister discloses Monday’s cabinet decisions



KATHMANDU: The government has clarified that it has revoked the earlier decision of granting two-day public holiday in a week since the provision did not appear to be practical in various areas, including education and health.

A meeting of the cabinet on last May 11 had decided to grant public holiday on Saturday and Sunday in a week that was in effect on probation since May 15.

At a press conference organized on Tuesday to disclose decisions of the cabinet meeting held on Monday, Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, who was also entrusted with the responsibility of spokesperson, shared the information.

The cabinet meeting had revoked the earlier decision of granting two-day public holiday in a week which will come to force from coming June 15.

Home Minister Khand said, “The government had implemented the provision on two-day leave on probation. The earlier decision to this effect has been withdrawn as it appeared to be impractical in some particular areas, including education and health at the moment”.

Disclosing the decision, Minister Khand said the government has decided to form a team to receive concessional loan of 100 million US Dollar from the World Bank for green, productive and inclusive development.

He also shared that the government has decided to appoint Sharad Bikram Rana as the Executive Director of Trade and Export Promotion Centre.

The cabinet has decided to approve the bill framed to amend the Social Security Act, 2075 BS to table at the federal parliament.

Likewise, the government decided to send the bill on regulation of Acid and other Harmful Chemicals to the parliament.

Similarly, the cabinet has decided to send the bill prepared to amend Health Worker and Health Institution Safety Act, 2066 to the parliament.
