KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indian defeated Gujarat Titans by five runs in a cricket match held under the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Gujarat failed to reach the target of 178 runs set by Mumbai as it notched up only 172 runs losing five wickets in 20 overs.
Gujarat’s Wriddhiman Saha topped the score with 55 runs followed by Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya with 52 and 24 runs, respectively.
To restrict Gujarat, Mumbai’s Murugan Ashwin took two wickets and Kieron Pollard grabbed one wicket.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Mumbai had made 177 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Gujarat’s Rashid Khan took two wickets while Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson and Alzarri Joseph claimed one wicket each.
With this win, Mumbai, which is at the bottom of the points table, has notched up 4 points from 10 matches.
Gujarat has maintained its top position with 16 points from 11 matches despite the defeat.
