Two-century-old statute of Kamdev stolen from Kathmandu Metropolis



KATHMANDU: A two-century-old statue of Kamdev, a Hindu god, has been stolen from Kalimati, in Kathmandu Metropolitan-13.

According to Ward 13 Chairman Dhurba Narayan Manandhar, the locals reported him about the theft of the ancient idol at 7:30 Thursday morning.

Manandhar added Bhimsen Thapa is believed to have erected the statue of Lord Kamdev around 200 years ago to inspire the soldiers at the time.

The ward chair said no further information has been received though the police were informed about the disappearance of the two-foot-tall stone statue.
