BPKIHS sees progress in reforms

KATHMANDU: The BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) has claimed that it has made leap strides in terms of health service delivery, academic enhancement, and administrative reforms in the last two years.

BPKIHS Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gyanendra Giri shared that the Institute was successful in developing physical infrastructure, up-gradation of the hospital, diversification of health services, procurement and installation of ultra-modern equipment and operation of different educational activities despite COVID-19.

As informed, the BPKIHS had operated a 100-bed separate COVID hospital with 20-bed ICU and ventilator during the pandemic time.

Likewise, the Institute had run 75-bed HDU and 80-bed isolation during the time of COVID pandemic.

According to the Institute, an agreement was made for the construction of 30-bed ICU with ventilators. Similarly, a liquid oxygen tank with the capacity of 20,000 liters was procured and operated and a separate well-equipped ward was managed for surgery of the coronavirus-infected patients.

Among other reforms undertaken at BPKIHS were the setup of additional 30-bed emergency ward with oxygen pipeline, up-gradation of emergency ward with four ICU beds and improvements in laboratory, radiology, occupational therapy service, the Institute claimed.

VC Dr Giri further informed that preparation was in final stage to operate 20 dialysis machines for kidney patients.
