Indian Army Chief General Pande calls on PM Deuba

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Deuba said that Nepal and India have a military relationship unlike any other in the world.

Referring to the tradition of honoring the rank of General in each other’s country, Deuba said that there is a different relationship between the armies of Nepal and India.

He also congratulated General Pandey on receiving the honor of Honorary General of the Nepali Army.

Earlier, the Indian Army Chief made an onsite visit of Nepal Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri.

Seats allocation to be done accepting existence of all: Maoist Centre Chair Dahal

CPN Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said distribution of seats for the upcoming elections would be done in such a way where existence of all is accepted.

Talking to media persons at Dhangadhi Airport on Tuesday, he shared although seats would not be allocated as per the demand in the alliance, it would be distributed in such a way where existence of all is accepted.

The Maoist Center Chair further said that discussion is underway in order to finalize the seat allocation within Wednesday and there would not be problem in it.

Seat sharing getting trickier: Unified Socialist Chair Nepal

Chairman of the CPN United Socialist Party Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the issue of seats sharing in upcoming elections is getting trickier and complex.

The elections for the Members of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies are being held on November 20 and the ruling coalition partners have agreed to forge electoral alliance to contest the election against the main opposition CPN-UML.

Speaking at the central committee meeting of Nepal Dalit Liberation Organization, which is close to the party, that kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday, leader Nepal said the complexity was that whether all coalition partners agree to just allocation of seats.

Nevertheless, he expressed his commitment to make seat sharing possible and move forward.

Judicial Council recommends three names for appointment as Supreme Court judges

 The Judicial Council has recommended three names for appointment as Supreme Court judges.

A meeting of the council held on Tuesday recommended the appointment of two High Court judges and a chief of Nepal Law Campus as judges of the Supreme Court.

The appointment of Chief Justice of High Court Nita Gautam Dixit and Justice Binod Sharma Gautam has been recommended.

Similarly, DN Parajuli, head of, has also been recommended to be made a judge of the Supreme Court.

TIA Immigration Office head booked for his alleged involvement in ‘setting’

Ministry of Home Affairs has booked Pushparam Shahi, the head of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Immigration Office, for the investigation after suspicion of collusion in the case of human trafficking through visit visas.

The Ministry of Home Affairs removed Shahi from his duties.

The Ministry has appointed Basudev Ghimire, the director general of the Department of Prison Management, as the head of the International Immigration Office of TIA.

Govt urged to opt dialogue to address woes of Nepali business community hit by northern border closure

Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Sujata Koirala has urged the government to opt diplomatic dialogue to address the problems of Nepali business community due to the closure of the northern border for a long time.

Speaking the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she drew the attention of the government to solve the problem as the businessmen were in trouble when the goods imported for festivals were stopped at the border for a long time.

Koirala, who is also a former Foreign Minister, stressed the need to promote Nepal’s established values ​​and neutral foreign policy.

SAFF Women’s Championship: Nepal beats Bhutan 4-0

Nepal has made a winning start to the 6th edition of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship that kicked off in the capital on Tuesday.

Host Nepal defeated Bhutan by 4-0, with one goal scored in the first half and three in the second half of the match held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

Ace Nepali striker Sabitra Bhandari scored the opening goal for Nepal in the 12th minute of the match utilizing an assist from Amisha Karki.

Bhandari doubled the score to make it 2-0 in the 68th minute while Anita Basnet scored a brace in the 73rd and 84th minutes of the match.

Japanese encephalitis cases go up in Chitwan

Nine cases of Japanese encephalitis (JE) have been confirmed in Chitwan, the district in Bagmati Province.

Laboratory tests on nine samples out of 22 suspected cases came positive.

According to the District Health Office Chitwan, the cases are from Bharatpur metropolis-12 (four), Madi municipality (two), Rapti municipality (one), Kalika municipality (one) and the Ratnanagar municipality (one).

Chitwan reports the outbreak of the infection since July 30 and till September 3, the number of JE cases rose to nine.

Upendra Yadav recommended as election candidate from Saptari constituency-2

The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Saptari election constituency No. 2 committee has recommended the party Chairperson Upendra Yadav as the candidate in the election to the member of the House of Representatives from the constituency.

The committee was unanimous in recommending Yadav’s name for the party candidate, said Brijaman Tamang, the JSP treasurer and publicity department chief.

Yadav was elected the member of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament, from the same constituency in the election of 2017.

Similarly, the sitting MP Dr Surya Narayan Yadav and Nawal Kishor Saha’s names have been recommended from Saptari constituency no 1 for the HoR member.

US diplomat Horst arrives in Kathmandu

The United States government Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Elizabeth Horst has arrived, in Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

The diplomat’s visit will be mostly be focused on climate change.

“During her visit, she will focus on our partnership on climate change and attend the first-ever Climate Action Champions Network Conference,” said the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

LSP Chair Thakur recommended from Bara Constituency-4 for HoR election

The Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has recommended name of its Chairperson Mahantha Thakur as the candidate from the Bara Constituency-4 for the election of House of Representatives.

According to Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Bara, Thakur was recommended towards the first-past-the-post election for HoR member under the HoR and Province Assembly election scheduled for November 20.

Nepal sees 300 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 300 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday.

Of the confirmed cases, 177 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 123 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 4,590 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 1,981 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,609 through the Antigen method.
