National Assembly gives green signal to Insurance Bill



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday endorsed a proposal to seek consideration over the Insurance Bill, 2075 BS.

The Upper House received the Bill from the House of Representatives, the Lower House, with its message. The proposal tabled by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma was endorsed by the session unanimously.

Taking part in the discussions on the principles of the bill, Tulasa Kumari Dahal and Devendra Dahl raised questions in regard with the Bill.

In his response to the queries, the Minister said the document aims to ensure maximum utilization of the public, private cooperative sectors to realize the national goal of building a prosperous nation.

The respective committee in the House of Representatives discussed the Bill before its endorsement by the Lower House unanimously and the government is positive for making is more applicable and relevant, according to the Minister.

Stating the existing Insurance Act has not incorporated all relating issues that is why the need of the Bill was highly realized, the Minister pledged to recognize the meeting’s submissions in regard with it.

He was hopeful that the Bill would help ensure citizens’ right to healthcare facilities if it was finalized thus winning the people’s trust.
