Parliamentary special committee to investigate Janardhan Sharma’s alleged manipulation of tax rate

A special parliamentary committee has been formed to investigate the alleged involvement of Finance Minister Janardan Sharma in raising the tax rate by admitting an unauthorized person to the ministry while preparing the budget for 2079/080.

Sharma has also been alleged of “deleting” the CCTV footage of the Ministry of Finance.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota proposed the names of 11 members of the parliamentary inquiry committee received from the political parties.

Finance Minister Sharma steps down

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma resigned from the post on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives today, Minister Sharma announced his resignation.

Sharma has been accused of manipulating the tax rate by admitting unauthorized persons while preparing the budget.

40 Nepali youths stranded in Dubai

More than 40 Nepalis who arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) about six months ago for foreign employment through brokers have been stranded in Dubai’s Al Quoz.

Kabin Rijal of Jhapa informed that they have been stranded as they were not given the jobs that they were assured by the Shiwakoti Manpower and Raj Group of Companies.

NEPSE witnesses double-digit growth despite fluctuations

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has risen by double digits on Wednesday amid sharp fluctuations. On Wednesday, the market index rose by 13.33 points to 2043.92.

A total of 627,310 shares of 228 companies were bought and sold 38,008 times bringing the total turnover to Rs 2.1786 billion today.

Govt grants Bakra Eid holiday on July 10

The government has given a public holiday on Sunday, July 10 to mark the occasion Eid-al Adha, the Bakra Eid.

Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs has notified that as stated in the March 10 issue of Nepal Gazette the government has decided to grant holiday on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha.

Indian Ambassador pays courtesy call on Energy Minister Bhusal

Newly-appointed Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal today.

In the meeting took place at the Ministry in Singha Durbar, they discussed the topics of bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and India.

Gold price decreases by Rs 1600 per tola

The price of gold has decreased by Rs 1600 per tola in the domestic market today.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of the hallmark gold is being sold at Rs 96,000 per tola.
