UML lawmakers desert HoR as soon as Finance Minister Sharma starts speaking

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmakers have boycotted the House of Representatives meeting after Finance Minister Janardan Sharma took special time to speak in the parliament on Wednesday.

The UML lawmakers walked out of the parliament hall immediately after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota gave time to Finance Minister Sharma to present his opinion.

Earlier, UML lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai had said that Sharma should not address the parliament as the Finance Minister.

Bhattarai had said that Finance Minister could not morally present himself as Minister after a parliamentary committee has been formed to probe his undue involvement in the CCTV footage removal scam.

Earlier, the parliament had agreed to form an 11-member probe committee to investigate the Finance Minister’s role in the CCTV footage removal and the involvement of an unauthorized person in the budget-making process.
