40 Nepali youths stranded in Dubai

Stranded Nepali youths in Dubai.

DOHA: More than 40 Nepalis who arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) about six months ago for foreign employment through brokers have been stranded in Dubai’s Al Quoz.

Kabin Rijal of Jhapa informed that they have been stranded as they were not given the jobs that they were assured by the Shiwakoti Manpower and Raj Group of Companies.

“We paid Rs 250,000 to Rs 350,000 per person to the manpower company. But we did not get the work and salary as agreed by the manpower company,” he complained.

Another victim, Prajal Adhikari of Morang, said that they have been compelled to stay in the room for the past four months.

He said that the manpower company from Nepal had sent them assuring them of the job of security guards and a handsome salary at the Federal Security Services Company in Dubai.

According to the victims, the company pays them only 50 dirams for food.

“We did not get the job and salary as agreed by the manpower company,” Kabin Rijal told Khabarhub.

According to them, despite informing the manpower company in Nepal, they did not get a positive response.

They have also urged the concerned bodies including the Ministry of Labor, Department of Foreign Employment, and the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi to get the money that they have been unemployed for a long time.

They have also urged the concerned authorities to send them back to Nepal.

Meanwhile, Bhishma Shivakoti, one of the operators of Siwakoti Manpower, said that their manpower operator Bhupal Siwakoti is currently in Dubai to solve the problems of the victims.

“This is not a major problem. The problem will be solved soon,” Bhishma told Khabarhub.

Siwakoti claimed that all the problems would be solved within two to three days as the manpower operator has already reached Dubai to solve the problem.

He has even asked the victims to be patient for a few days.
