EC officials to recommend Nov 18 or 21 to hold parliamentary and provincial elections

KATHMANDU: Election Commission (EC) officials are meeting Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday recommending November 18 or 21 to hold federal and provincial elections.

The EC is preparing to hold the elections to the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies either on November 18 or 21 this year.

The Commission is likely to suggest to the Prime Minister to announce the dates for parliamentary and provincial-level elections within a week.

Stating that the recently-held local-level elections were conducted all over the country in a single phase, the EC is likely to recommend to the Prime Minister a date for holding the provincial and parliamentary elections on the same day.
