Govt overturns its decision on giving two days weekly leave

The government has decided to overturn its decision of giving two days weekly leave on Saturdays and Sundays.

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said the cabinet meeting held on Monday decided not to grant weekly leave on Sundays from June 15.

The cabinet had decided on May 9 to grant public holidays on Sundays as well.

Shuffle of Unified Socialist’s Ministers in limbo

The shuffle of CPN (Unified Socialist) Ministers in government has fallen into limbo.

The Unified Socialist on Sunday called back its current Ministers and recommended new ones in their places. The new Ministers of the party were supposed to be sworn in today, Monday.

Reconsider directive to affix embossed number plates: NC Gen Secy Thapa tells govt

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has objected to the government’s directive to affix embossed number plates to vehicles registered in Gandaki and Bagmati states by mid-July.

In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Thapa objected to the government’s order to install embossed number plates by mid-July saying that the language used in the notice has evoked fear, intimidation, and threat among the general people.

He demanded revision of the notice stating that the culture of ‘intimidating’ people should be stopped.

Two persons involved in looting 3.5 million from Lainchaur nabbed

Police have apprehended two persons involved in looting a person at Lainchaur of Kathmandu.

A police squad mobilized from the Police Circle Lainchaur arrested 25-year-old Pemba Tamang of Nuwakot and currently residing in Budhanilkantha and 34-year-old Shalik Ram Nepali of Dang presently residing in Maligaon of Kathmandu.

Seven arrested on charge of gang-raping minor

Police have arrested seven people on the charge of gang-raping a 16-year-old-girl in Banke.

According to District Police Office, Banke’s Deputy Superintendent Madhusudan Neupane, Hemraj Tharu, 17, who was known to the girl through Facebook invited her to meet him at his ‘birthday celebrations’ and he and his friends allegedly raped her.

Nepal beats Bhutan by four wickets in ICC U19 T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers

Nepal defeated Bhutan by four wickets in a match under the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers. The match took place at the Kinrara Oval Ground in Malaysia.

Chasing the 67-run target posted by Bhutan, Nepal achieved it in 13.1 overs at the loss of six wickets.

For Nepal, Sanu Rajbamshi hit highest 30 runs and Sana Prabin and Srishti Jaisi 18 and 8 respectively.
