Reconsider directive to affix embossed number plates: NC Gen Secy Thapa tells govt



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has objected to the government’s directive to affix embossed number plates to vehicles registered in Gandaki and Bagmati states by mid-July.

In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Thapa objected to the government’s order to install embossed number plates by mid-July saying that the language used in the notice has evoked fear, intimidation, and threat among the general people.

He demanded revision of the notice stating that the culture of ‘intimidating’ people should be stopped.

Stating that the attached embossed number plates are also of poor quality, Thapa said that the state should also bear the financial burden if embossed number plates are to be installed for national security.
