KATHMANDU: Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company Tata Motors sold a total of 43,341 vehicles in India in May 2022 alone.

With this Tata Motors has been the second largest car seller in India for the month of May.

Out of the total vehicles sold, the company had sold 3,454 electric vehicles including electric Nexon and Tigor, a press statement issued by Tata said.

Earlier, South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motor used to sell more vehicles in the Indian market than Tata Motors.

But in May 2022, Hyundai Motors sold a total of 42,293 vehicles in India. This is 1,048 vehicles less than Tata Motors.

As a result, Hyundai has slipped to third place among the top car sellers in India.

But compared to May 2021, this time the company has sold 17 thousand 292 more vehicles. In May 2021, the company sold a total of 25,001 vehicles.

This is the second time in the last six months that Hyundai has fallen to third place in terms of sales.

The company had earlier dropped to third place in December 2021’s sales record.

While Hyundai’s performance in the Indian market is declining, Tata Motors is making itself a stronger competitor.

In April 2022 alone, the company sold 74,755 vehicles including in Indian and overseas markets. In May 2021, this number was 24, 552.

After Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra is the best-selling company in the Indian market. Mahindra & Mahindra is the fourth-largest seller of vehicles in May 2022.

The company sold 26,904 vehicles during the period. According to the company, the demand for Mahindra & Mahindra’s XUV 700 and Thar is wider than other SUVs.

In 2022 Mya, Kia India has increased its sales by 69 percent and sold a total of 18,718 vehicles.

During the same period, Toyota sold 10,216 vehicles. In May 2021 alone, the company had sold a total of 707 vehicles.

The largest car seller in India is however still Maruti Suzuki India. The company has sold a total of 1,61,413 vehicles including in the domestic and Indian markets in May 2022 alone.

In May 2021, the company sold a total of 46,555 vehicles.

In the Indian market alone, the company sold 1,34,222 vehicles in May 2022. In May 2021, the company sold a total of 35,293 vehicles.
