KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he proposed Renu Dahal as the mayoral candidate in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Addressing an election rally of the ruling coalition in Kathmandu on Friday, Deuba appealed to vote for Kathmandu metropolis mayoral candidate Srijana Singh along with Renu Dahal.

Praising CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, he said Prachanda was okay with Renu Dahal not filing mayoral candidacy in Bharatpur but he insisted that she run in the election. “Renu had done good work and I proposed her as Bharatpur mayor, considering her accomplishment as a female in Bharatpur,” Deuba said.

Stating that it wasn’t Renu’s fault to born as Prachanda’s daughter, he urged all NC cadres to cast vote for her in the election.

Deuba also said that even NC leader Prakash Man Singh hesitated when his wife Srijana Singh, who is Kathmandu metropolis mayoral candidate, was proposed as the coalition candidate for the post.

“Srijana’s parents married her off with Prakash Man Singh, and now being an NC leader’s wife isn’t her fault either,” he said, adding, “Is it a crime to be a leader’s wife?”

Also the Prime Minister, Deuba favored female mayoral candidates in Kathmandu and Bharatpur.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with NC cadres and leaders creating fuss over the electoral coalition.
