NC leader Koirala warns against forging electoral alliance with Maoist

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala has warned of nationwide protests if the party leadership tried to forge an electoral alliance with the Maoist Center.

Stating that the alliance would be done on the basis of necessity and justification as per the party’s decision, Koirala warned the leadership not to impose its decision on forging an electoral alliance.

He, however, hailed the ruling coalition’s decision to form a mechanism.

Koirala said, “It is normal to set up a mechanism.”

The ruling coalition has formed an election preparation and monitoring committee headed by senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Tuesday.
