UML Chair Oli going to Baluwatar almost after seven months



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli is going to Baluwatar to meet Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday afternoon.

According to a source close to UML Chair Oli’s Secretariat, former Prime Minister and main opposition leader Oli is scheduled to go to Baluwatar for a meeting with Prime Minister Deuba at 4 pm today.

The source informed that PM Deuba and the UML Chair will discuss on various issues including local election and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Former Prime Minister Oli’s visit to Baluwatar at a time when the ruling coalition has failed to reach consensus on various important agenda including ratifying the MCC compact from the parliament is being regarded significant.

Prime Minister Deuba is trying to move the MCC agreement forward. But no agreement has been reached within the ruling coalition.

Former Prime Minister Oli had not attended the all-party meeting held by Prime Minister Deuba several times before. Prime Minister Deuba had met Oli at his residence in Balkot a few days ago.

This is Chairman Oli’s first visit to Baluwatar after NC President Deuba became Prime Minister on July 3.
