Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in Kathmandu on Monday, the ministry’s undersecretary and section chief Santosh Sharma said the establishment of the section aims to coordinate, integrate and promote activities relating to astronomy and space science.

As said by NASO Chair Suresh Bhattarai, the organization was established by a group of Tri-Chandra college students with the objective of promoting science and technology by conducting astronomy and space science-related activities.

Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) member Dr Dinesh Raj Bhuju acknowledged the role of NASO in promoting science and technology in the country.

The participants of the program demanded the building of a better environment to carry out a study and research on astronomy and space science in the country.

As the organization said, its programs are designed to address a child at elementary school to a researcher at university level in order to foster scientific temper in the society.
