One killed in landslide



KARNALI: A woman died in a dry landslide that occurred near Daurikhola, Panchapuri Rural Municipality-7 in Surkhet district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Amrita Jaisi of Raniban, Turmakhand Rural Municipality-6, Achham district, according to the District Police Office Surkhet.

Rati Kami, 72, has sustained serious injury on her head and forehead in the incident.

Jaisi and Kami were on their way to Kailali from Raniban of Achham when the incident took place.

A Nepali Army Western Base Camp chopper airlifted Kami to the Provincial Hospital at Birendranagar for treatment.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office Deputy Superintendent of Police Suraj Karki said difficulties have been encountered in the rescue works as the landslide has yet to halt.
