Ruling coalition leaders holding meeting to discuss electoral alliance

KATHMANDU: The five-party alliance formed under the leadership of the Nepali Congress (NC) is making decisions on the ‘modality’ of electoral alliance in the local elections.

A meeting is scheduled to be held today to decide on the modalities of coordination as Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba returned home on Sunday evening after his visit to India.

Since the coalition decided to forge an alliance in the upcoming local elections to be held on Mar 13, discussions have started on coordination and its modalities from the state to the municipality level.

However, dissatisfaction has been seen within the Congress-led coalition on the issue.

The faction led by Shekhar Koirala has been insisting that the Nepali Congress should not forge an electoral alliance with the Maoist Center.
