Fire guts 5 shops, property worth Rs 15 mln in Mahottari

JALESHWOR: Five shops at a bazaar at Matihani Municipaity-8 have been burnt down in a fire today morning, destroying property worth approximately Rs 15 million, said the police.

However, no human casualties are reported in the blaze.

A short-circuit is blamed for the fire. The district police office, Mahottari confirmed the destruction of the shops and property worth around Rs 15 million in the blaze.

Some of the destroyed shops belonged to one Bhola Kumar Mahato of Matihani Municipality-7, who ran a grocery on the house of one Jagadish Prasad Gupta and Shatrudhan Thakur, who ran a saloon on the same building, said the police.

The fire was doused two hours later with the help of the police, Armed Police Force and local people.
