2nd phase voting for NC Chitwan district convention taking place today



CHITWAN: The second phase of voting for the Chitwan district convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) is taking place from 12:30 pm today.

In the first phase of voting held on Friday, Rajeshwor Khanal received the highest 746 votes followed by Milan Babu Shrestha with 662 votes.

Other presidential contestants Uttam Joshi obtained 473 votes, Kailash Koirala got 412 votes and Dr Suryakanta Ghimire got 426 votes while 101 votes were declared invalid.

Milan Babu is from Deuba panel while Khanala is from the Koirala panel. The remaining other three panels are also from the establishment side.

According to an NC leader, President Sher Bahadur Deuba who is also the Prime Minister of Nepal, is rending efforts to support Khanal by taking these three leaders into confidence.

Votes of these three leaders will determine who will win the presidential post in Chitwan district. The counting of votes of the other office-bearers has not started yet.
