Construction of infrastructures for Nishan Kalikadham, Yankbarak Pokhari in Panchthar begins

PHIDIM: The construction of infrastructures for Nishan Kalikadham and Yankbarak Pokhari (pond) at Yankbarak Rural Municipality-4 in Taplejung district has begun. Lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai on Friday laid the foundation stone for the project amid a function here.

The project cost is estimated to be over Rs 69 million, 70 percent of which provided by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and 30 percent by the Rural Municipality.

Under the project, expansion and construction of structures for Nishan Kalikadham and Yankbarak Pokhari will take place. Similarly, the project will see the construction of a children’s park, a resting place, a fishpond, sprouts, a selfie spot, a garden and a main entrance, said chief administrative officer at the Rural Municipality, Suman Lingden. Statues featuring traditional and local lifestyles of people and images of local weapons will also be set up.

On the occasion, lawmaker Bhattarai expressed the hope that a new tourist destination would be added following the completion of the project. Publicity of the area should take place, he suggested.

The project has been contracted with the completion deadline being 2081 BS, said chair of the Rural Municipality Lekhnath Ghimire.
The Rural Municipality aims to attract tourists visiting Pathibhara Devi, Timbu Pokhari and Chiwabhanjyang, the origin of the Mid-Hill Highway to the area, he said.
