Prithvipur sub-customs shut for last two years



KAILALI: Prithvipur Sub-Customs at Bhajani municipality-5 in Kailali district, has remained shut for the last two years.
The sub-customs office is still closed even after all other check points shut due to enforcement of first-phase lockdown following coronavirus pandemic have already resumed operations.
The Customs office has witnessed a deserted looks in lack of renovation of the building. Revenue collection has also been stagnated and unlawful import of goods has also increased due to the closure of the Customs office.
The Sub-Customs is operated under Satti Customs Office. Chief of Satti Customs Office, Bimal Kumar Sah said none of the Sub-Customs closed across the nation during first-phase lockdown have resumed operations.
He shared that the Sub-Customs checkpoint could not be brought into operation without receiving authority from the Department of Customs.
Sah added, “We cannot resume the customs office on our wish. Authority of the Department is required for the same. The office has not yet received authority”.
As informed the Sub-Customs used to annually collect around four million rupees and revenue collection has stagnated with the shutdown of its checkpoint for the last two years.
