Ministry warns of taking action against medical colleges

KATHMANDU: The government has said that the affiliation of the medical colleges, charging fees higher than determined by the Medical Education Commission, shall be cancelled.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology warned of scrapping the affiliation of the medical colleges violating the direction time and again in the context of complaint received about different colleges charging high fees illegally.

A press release issued today by Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Deepak Sharma reads, “Action will be taken as per the Article-14 of the National medical Education Act against the colleges charging high fees from the students in violation of the Commission’s direction.”

Although the ministry and Commission has urged the students not to pay the fees than the determined by the Commission, the medical colleges have not allowed the students not paying fees to seat in the examination.
