BANKE: The government has signed a four-point agreement with agitating women right activists of Banke promising to involve Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in the investigation of Nirmala Kurmi’s case.

With this agreement signed between Home Ministry officials and women right activists seeking justice for Nirmala, the CIB will look into the case and take it ahead for further legal prosecution and the agitating activist will postpone their protest programs.

Banke women, including human rights activist Rubi Khan, had been protesting in Kathmandu for 40 days demanding investigation into the Nirmala Kurmi case by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Khan had gone on a hunger strike since Tuesday after the government ignored her.

Nirmala Kurmi, Nepalgunj-17, Paraspur Banke, who had gone missing last April, was found dead mysteriously and her land was found transferred by fraud.

The relatives had filed the first investigation report (FIR) against eight suspects on April 2, 2021. The relatives turned skeptic of the motive of the administration alleging that the investigation has been very sluggish deliberately.

Relatives and women right activists have been mounting pressure on government demanding justice for Kurmi.
