EC making voters well informed

The Election Commission has published the details of all voters — their serial number, voter number, voting place, polling station, name of father, mother, husband or wife.

The EC published the details of voters in its website — www.election.gov.np.

The EC, however, would send sealed voter name-list with photo and contact number at the office of the Election Officer later.

President Bhandari performs nava kanya puja

President Bidya Devi Bhandari today performed nava kanya puja (worship of nine virgin girls) on Maha Navami, the ninth day of Bada Dashain.

Nava kanya are considered as the incarnation of Goddess Nava Durga.

The puja took place amid a special function organised at the office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.

On the occasion, she washed the feet of the girls, offered tika and gifts to them.

UML Chairman Oli organized tea reception in Jhapa

Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli organized a tea-reception program on the occasion of Dashain in Jhapa on Tuesday.

Chairman Oli already arrived in Jhapa on Monday for the tea party and Dashain greeting exchange program organized at Birtamod in Jhapa.

Oli has been regularly organizing Dashain/Tihar and Chhath greeting exchange programs in his home district Jhapa on the Mahanavami day of Dashain.

Nepal sees 14 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours.

Nepal recorded a total of 14 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday.

Of the confirmed cases, all 14 were detected through the RT-PCR method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,127 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Man chokes to death on piece of meat

A man has died after a piece of meat got stuck in his throat.

Dhan Bahadur Dani Chhetri, 50, of Gairibari in Kalika Municipality-8 in Chitwan district chocked to death on a piece of meat during dinner on Asthami, the eight day of Bada Dashain, said the police.

He died upon reaching Old Medical College in Bhaktapur for treatment, according to the District Police Office. The body of Chhetri has been kept at Bharatpur Hospital for a postmortem.
