President Bhandari performs nava kanya puja



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today performed nava kanya puja (worship of nine virgin girls) on Maha Navami, the ninth day of Bada Dashain.

Nava kanya are considered as the incarnation of Goddess Nava Durga.

The puja took place amid a special function organised at the office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.

On the occasion, she washed the feet of the girls, offered tika and gifts to them.

The nine girls were brought from Balmandir.

The President has been performing the puja every year on Maha Navami.

On the occasion, the nava kanya performed dance.
