Indian Army Chief arriving Kathmandu today



KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande is arriving here today on a five-day visit to Nepal.

General Pande is coming on a visit to Nepal at the official invitation of Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma.

During the visit, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, will honor Indian Army Chief Pandey with the honorary title of the General of Nepal Army.

Since 1951, there has been a unique tradition of awarding the honorary title of the General to the army chiefs of Nepal and India. Chief of Army Staff Sharma received the honorary title of General of the Indian Army in 2021.

During his visit, Indian Army Chief Pande is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Likewise, assistance worth Rs 223.8 million including cannon maintenance parts, horses, simulators, explosives resistant vehicles and necessary equipment for mobile hospitals will be handed over to the Nepal Army from India during the Indian Army Chief’s visit.
