Guardians unhappy over two-day public holiday

KATHMANDU:  Guardians have expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s decision to grant a two-day public holiday starting May 15.

The government has decided to give holidays for two days – Saturday and Sunday – for the time being in order to reduce the expenses on petroleum products and electricity.

Reacting to the two-day public holiday, guardians have said that it would be difficult for them to manage their kids if the public holidays are granted for two days. Besides, it will also affect their studies.

The grievances have been expressed especially by those guardians who work for private companies that are unlikely to give public holidays for two days a week.

Meanwhile, some parents have also demanded that the college and school fees be reduced if the public holiday is given on Sunday, too.

A cabinet meeting held on April 27 had decided to grant a two-day public holiday.
