Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda holds talks with PM Deuba

Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” held talks with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba after the latter’s three-day-long India visit.

According to sources, Prachanda reached at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 4:15 pm for a meeting.

The two leaders had talks for about 45 minutes.

India appoints its Ambassador to Nepal, Kwatra as new Foreign Secretary

India has appointed its Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, as new Foreign Secretary.

Kwatra, who is serving as Indian Ambassador to Nepal from March 2020, will succeed current Foreign Secretary Harsha Vardan Shringla.

As many as 42,000 foreign tourists visit Nepal in March

More than 42,000 foreign tourists visited Nepal in March this year.

According to the data provided by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) quoting the Immigration Department, a total of 42,006 tourists entered Nepal by air in March.

In March last year, 14 thousand 977 tourists had visited Nepal.

Ballot papers for 747 local levels to be printed by May first week

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to print ballot papers for 747 local levels by May 1.

The EC is preparing to print the ballot papers of the remaining six metropolitan cities by April 5.

The EC has already started printing ballot papers for the local elections to be held on May 13.

UML Vice Chairman Pokhrel rules out alliance with Maoist Center

CPN-UML senior vice-chairman Ishwor Pokharel has ruled out the possibility of an electoral alliance with the Maoist Center in the upcoming local elections.

Ruling coalition holding meeting to discuss election modality

The five-party alliance formed under the leadership of the Nepali Congress (NC) is making decisions on the ‘modality’ of electoral alliance in the local elections.

A meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday to decide on the modalities of coordination as Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba returned home on Sunday evening after his visit to India.

Nepal clinches the Tri-nation T20 International title

Nepal has defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 50 runs in the final of the ongoing Tri-nation T20 International Cricket Series.

Nepal clinched the title unbeaten in all five matches of the series played at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Kasthamandap now open for public

Historic Kasthamandap (Marusata) has been opened to the public from today, following its restoration. The iconic monument was damaged by 2015 earthquake.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari displayed a key of the building. The key was presented to the Head-of-the State by mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya to mark the launch of the opening of the monument to the public.

Finance Minister Sharma stresses early implementation of MCC project

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma stressed early implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project.

In a virtual meeting held between MCC officials, including Deputy Vice President of Europe, Asia, Pacific, and Latin America Jonathan Brooks, MCC acting National Director Sanjay Poudel, US Embassy’s Political Expert Rosy Kattel and the Ministry of Finance officials on Monday, Minister Sharma said that though one year remained for the implementation of MCC, it should be started at the earliest.
