'An accident averted and path clear for coalition to continue till polls'

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has defended his decision of ratifying Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.

He viewed that the country averted an accident through MCC’s passage and the same decision helped save the ruling coalition.

Addressing the long-awaited Central Committee meeting of Maoist Center at Rastriya Sabhagriha, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, on Friday, Prachanda claimed that his efficient decision on MCC was able to save the country from an accident and now the path was clear for the ruling coalition to from an electoral alliance for polls.

The Maoist leader also asserted that Nepali politics treaded along a new and stable course with his decision on MCC.

According to a central member present at the meeting today, Prachanda clarified that he took the decision to support MCC to protect the constitution, system and nation after he sensed that the country faced a threat of reverting to confusion and regression.

Prachanda, while also passing a resolution at the Central Committee meeting, said it would be good for the nation to get past MCC since the US agreement was passed in a way that the nation was no more endangered.

He also urged party leaders to be focused on the upcoming polls by accepting and putting MCC ratification behind them.

He also briefed Central members that MCC ratification was in line with the party’s 8th general convention and they had passed the agreement with supplementary notes.
