Rural Municipality Chairman donates Rs 2 million for social cause



MYAGDI: Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi district Dam Bahadur Pun has spent Rs 2 million received in the capacity of people’s representatives for social cause.

Pun provided the amount to support underprivileged student’s education, villagers’ health care facilities, disaster management, sports activities, promote cultural heritages, develop religious sites and to complete some incomplete development projects.

Pun said the amount received in allowance in the past five years was kept in bank account and was spent for social cause.

Pun is also a retired army man of Indian army. Likewise, he owns Sunny Hotel located at famous tourism site in Ghorepani in Myagdi district.

“My pension covers my personal expenses. All the members of my family are economically independent. I served the money for social sector as per my commitment made to the people,” Pun shared.

As per the legal provision of the Gandaki Province Government, the rural municipality chairperson can receive as high as Rs 48,000 in a month under different titles.

Chairman Pun has established revolving funds in different social and religious institutions while has helped economically poor students for their higher studies.

Likewise, his philanthropic support is extended for the construction of stadium, temple, purchase of utensils for Mothers’ Group, conservation efforts, drinking water supply, health care and many others.
