Nepal bags four gold medals in Karate Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepal has clinched four gold medals in Shito-Ryu Karate in the B-G Karate Championship held in Bangladesh.

Nepal’s Dijen Dolma Lala claimed two gold medals while Pasang Tamang and Gyalmo Somika Lama secured one gold medal each in the Championship held recently under the auspices of the Bangladesh Goju-Riyo Karate Federation.

Dijen won gold medal in Kumite and Kata category. Pasang got the medal in 70 kg Kata category while Gyalmo received the medal in 35 kg Kumite category, shared Nepali team manager Ram Kumar Shrestha. He added the Nepali team also bagged 2 silver and five bronze medals in the same event.

Pasang Tamang won silver medal under 70 kg kumite category while Rajdev Bom brought home bronze medal under 55 kg kumite.

Likewise, Rabindra Kunwar secured bronze medals in open category, Yurodish Rokka in 60 kg, Umesh Bhandari in 55 kg, Rabinda Budhathoki in 45 kg and Umang Budhathoki in 14 kg.

In the championship, Chatra Bahadur Ale Magar, Ramchandra Gurung, Narayan Shrestha, Prakash Tamang Lama, Mingma Tamang, Ganeshlal Shrestha were judges from Nepal.
