Maoist Center’s General Convention urges leadership not to pass MCC without amendment

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center’s recent 8th General Convention has urged party leadership not to pass Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in its current form.

Maoist-Center’s General Convention, which was organized in Kathmandu from 26 December to 2 January, asked new leadership not to pass the mega grant in the status quo.

Passing the resolution from the party’s general convention the Maoist Center has demanded the leadership’s firm stand in the issues relating to Nepal’s nationality, sovereignty, national integrity, and the independence of the country.

“Some provisions of the agreement between the Government of Nepal and the MCC, which are under serious discussion nationally and internationally, may adversely affect Nepal’s nationality, sovereignty, independence, and interests,” the resolution said, adding, “This General Convention demands to move forward while maintaining overall national consensus in such issues.”

Similarly, the General Convention demanded the government’s initiation in taking action against those involved in Kanchanpur’s Govinda Gautam’s and Darchula’s Jay Singh Dhami case.

Stating that the Indian side is committing atrocities in the Nepal-India border area, it has demanded the government to take back all the encroached lands including Susta, and Maheshpur.
