19th handicraft trade fair on December 9

KATHMANDU: The 19th handicraft trade fair is taking place in Kathmandu on December 9-13.

Organized by the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal, the event aims to promote development and market of handicraft products.

The fair will showcase various handicraft products and sculpture materials. Similarly, a handicraft competition will also be organized, said the fair coordinator Dilli Ratna Tuladhar.

He stressed the need for conserving and protecting the country’s original and traditional arts that are at the risk of disappearance with the advent of modern technology.

To make the event more effective, foreign diplomats and missions will be invited to participate through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said. Business persons and sculpturers from various 17 districts including from the Kathmandu Valley will participate in the fair, which will house around 150 stalls, it has been said.
