Jewelry and cash Rs 1.2 million looted from IME in Taplejung

TAPLEJUNG: Jewelry along with 1.2 million in cash were looted from the IME branch located at Birendra Chowk in Fungling, Taplejung headquarters.

Chief of the District Police Office Taplejung, DSP Kailash Rai said that according to initial information, a group of approximately four people robbed Rs 1.2 million in cash and some jewelry.

DSP Rai said that it has been found that a person has been contacted since yesterday to take out the gold kept as collateral. Three group members entered the IME office simultaneously, took control of an employee and fled with the money and jewelry. How much gold was looted has not been revealed yet.

IME was being run by IME employees as the owner Amar Kumar Shrestha and his wife Maiya Shrestha were out of the country.

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have stated that they are searching for the robbers. It is said that the robbers left behind a combat jacket while fleeing.
