President Bhandari pays tribute to Kaji Tularam Pande

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari offered tributes to Kaji Tularam Pande, attending an event in Kathmandu on Saturday.

In the 254th memorial program of Kaji Tularam Pande organized by Kaji Kalu Pandey Kaji Tularam Pandey Memorial Trust, President Bhandari garlanded the picture of Kaji Tula Ram Pande.

Pande is the younger brother of Commander Kaji Kalu Pande. He had died on the premises of Tulaja Bhawani (popularly known as Taleju Bhawani) Temple at Basantapur in Kathmandu on Ashoj 14 in 1825 BS.

He died in the attack from the opponent while the then King from Gorkha, Prithvi Narayan Shah, was attempting to capture Kantipur under the unification bid of Nepal.

In today’s event, noted historian Dineshraj Panta lauded the role of Kaji Tula Ram Pande in Prithivi Narayan Shah’s Nepal unification bid.

Dr Krishna Kumar Pande, who has conducted research on the late Pande, said that Pande had contributed significantly in Nepal unification bid by strongly supporting Prithivi Narayan Shah at various strategically important locations while Shah planned attacks on those locations for unification.

Trust’s President Pawan Bahadur Pande commended Kaji Kalu Pande and Kaji Tula Ram Pande as brave warriors, who, he added, achieved heroic death while fighting for the country.
