Freedom fighter Bade passes away



KATHMANDU: Freedom fighter Gopaldas Bade passed away this morning. He was 97.

Bade breathed his last at his residence in Banepa, Kavrepalanchowk at 3.00 am on Wednesday, informed his son Kanchan Chandra Bade, who is also the general-secretary of Nepali Congress Bagmati Province.

Politically trained at Gandhi Ashram in India, Gopaldas had groomed his political personality in close company with Mahatma Gandhi, according to his family sources.

Gopaldas had reached to the close connection with Gandhi through Tulasimehar Shrestha. He joined politics with inspiration from his own elder brother.

Bade was known to be the Gandhian leader. He had immensely contributed to the establishment of democracy in Nepal. He is also popular for this social contributions in Kavre.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
