PM Deuba urges KU to address educational unemployment, brain drain



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba urged the Kathmandu University (KU) to enable environment that provides quality education to the youths as per their interest and demand of the world market so as to end educational unemployment and brain drain.

PM Deuba, also Chancellor of the KU, said so addressing second phase of 27th convocation at Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk district today.

Deuba argued that unless the brain drain was curbed and educational unemployment was ended, bright future could not be ensured for the country.

Arguing that youths were the agent of change and development, he urged the graduate students in the University to pay attentions towards development and bringing about good changes in the country.

The PM affirmed that the government was ready to facilitate and support the University for the same.

He expressed his confidence that KU had helped increased the reputation of the education sector in the country and spread it across the world.

He lauded the University for continuing its activities as per its educational calendar amid the COVID-19 pandemic and for producing skilled human resources to prevent brain drain.

The Head of the Government urged the University to further support the social-economic development of the country in the coming days by producing quality human resources in the field of minerals mobilization, processing, hydropower management, climate action, exploration of organic herbs and research among others.

A total of 1,715 students-among them 157 from 9 foreign countries, were graduated today’s ceremony.

Likewise, Vice-chancellor of the KU Prof Dr Bhola Thapa shared that so far 38,336 students had graduated from three decade old University till date.
