DoTM unveiling new bus fare today

To increase up to 14%



KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is set to unveil a new transport fare of the public vehicles.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport had decided to hike the transport fare on Thursday.

According to the new transport fare of cargo trucks and passenger buses fixed by the Ministry on Thursday, the fare would increase by  10 to  14 percent.

According to the decision, the transport fare of the passenger buses would increase by 10 to 11 percent in the Terai region and by 14 percent in the hilly region.

The transport fare of short-route vehicles is being made pubic today, said Nama Raj Ghimire, the Director General of the DoTM.

“Preparations are underway  to hike the transport fare of cargo vehicles by 14 percent and that of passenger buses by 13  percent,” said Ghimire.

The DoTM said the fare of the short-route vehicles in the Kathmandu Valley would go up by 2 to 3 rupees. Hence, the passengers will have to pay Rs 20 in place of 18, Rs 27 in place of 25 and Rs 30 in place of 27, according to the new fare adjustment.
