About 20,000 tourists visit Nepal in February this year



KATHMANDU: Nearly 20,000 tourists have visited Nepal in the second month (February) of 2022.

According to Maniraj Lamichhane, director of the Nepal Tourism Board, 19,766 tourists visited Nepal in February. The number of tourists has increased compared to 9,164 visiting Nepal in February 2021. The number of tourists entering Nepal in January 2022 was 17,000.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 37,741 tourists have visited Nepal in the last two months of 2022. Tourist arrivals have slightly improved with the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic subsiding.

According to data, Indians make the highest number of tourists visiting Nepal. As many as 5,998 Indians visited Nepal in February. Tourists from the United States made it to second place with 3,614 US citizens visiting Nepal. Likewise, 2,217 tourists from United Kingdom and 1,052 Australians visited the country.

Similarly, 147 Russians and 205 Chinese nationals also visited in the past month.

Data showed 888 Bangladeshi nationals entering Nepal; 642 tourists came from Germany, 529 from France, 252 from the Netherlands, 180 from Spain and 179 from Belgium.
