Mets urge to adopt safety measures as Westerly wind likely to trigger weather changes

Weather likely to improve from Sunday



KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged people to adopt necessary safety and precautionary measures to stem the risk emanating from the weather changes.

As the country is currently witnessing the partial impact of the Westerly winds, the Division has said that the wind is likely to trigger a light to heavy rainfall and snowfall for the next two days.

This atmospheric condition may have its implications on the aviation sector, mountaineering, agriculture, transport and people’s daily life, it said.

Likewise, the Division has also said that cold is likely to increase while urging people all to take precautionary measures against it.

Rain is likely to occur at some places of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province.

There is a possibility of light snowfall at some places of the high hilly and mountainous region, it said.

Likewise, it will be generally to fully cloudy in Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province, Lumbini Province and Gandaki Province while the Bagmati Province, Madhes Province and Province 1 will see partial to generally cloudy conditions.

There are chances of light snowfall at high-hills and a few places of mountainous regions of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki Provinces.

Meanwhile, there will be generally to fully cloudy across the country on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the possibility remains for light to moderate snowfall at a few places of high-hills and mountainous regions.

The impact of the Westerly wind will continue on Saturday, too, and the weather is likely to improve from Sunday.
